I Spy Speech!

It's always necessary to get your students thinking about their speech outside of therapy...carryover, much?  So I created this fun activity to accomplish just that!
You can use this for students to spy their speech words all around school or at home for a carryover assignment!

Initial F Repetition Board Game!

There are a number of great articulation board games out there that target the use of traditional articulation methods.  That is great for our kiddos who have minor sound substitutions but what about our kiddos with CAS or phonological patterning issues (a.k.a. phonological processing disorders)?  What tailor made materials are out there for these kiddos?  What types of game boards do they get to play?

Well since I have been working with students with CAS and phonological pattern deficits for a while I decided I needed to make some game boards specifically for them.

Bird Theme Paper Bag Game

Hey everyone! It's been awhile since I have posted, but I am excited to bring you a new freebie today! My room theme is birds this year, so I have decided to create a bird open-ended game for my students. My preschoolers LOVE this game so far, and I am hoping your students will love it, too!

This freebie is fun to use with any speech or language group because you can make the game as long or as short as you want to!

The game features these adorable little birds:

It's very easy and fun to play. The purpose of the game is to have the most birds at the end. The student with the most birds at the end is the winner!

Thanks! :)

Vocabulary Barometers

We all work on synonyms, right?  Ever notice that some synonyms are just a little more "bleh" and others are a little more extreme?  Take mad for example...You might think that someone who is furious or enraged is more mad than someone who is annoyed or bothered, right?

Here's an activity to work on those "degrees" of words...Vocabulary Barometers!  (or Synonym Barometers, if you prefer).

On each page, there's a barometer.  Put your target synonym in the middle and challenge students to come up with words that are "more" or "less" that word!  I've filled in a few words for you to start...

Fluency Enhancing Behaviors (FEB) Freebie!

I like to teach my students behaviors or strategies to help them increase their fluency.  They have really worked well with my kids who stutter and have proven to be an effective way of achieving fluency.

There are programs and practices that teach several strategies, but these are the ones that I use the most:

You can grab this handout for free as well as visual cues for each strategy!  Just head on over to my blog to find out more info and how to download!

Vocal Abuse Behavior Checklist

I have several different vocal abuse behaviors checklists and they all have different behaviors listed.  However, I wanted a checklist that was fairly comprehensive including all of these behaviors in one, so I took matters in my own hands, made one myself the way I wanted it to look, added my own rating system and a re-assessment column and voila'.

Here's a sneak peak at my Vocal Abuse Behaviors Checklist.

Super Speech Student Profile

I created these for teachers to get to know their super speech students. It is pretty basic and just gives the teachers an idea of their students and due dates. If there is any additional paperwork (such as behavior plans), I attach them to this profile.
