Song Title Synonyms

Hey all!  I was inspired by the Technology Clip Art I purchased from Scrappin' Doodles to create this latest freebie...

In this free download, you get 3 pages (4 cards each) of song titles in three different categories...
  • Children's Songs
  • 80s
  • On the Radio

Here's an example:

I also included a blank sheet so that you can create your own song title synonyms and a "cheat sheet" - a list of all the songs I used.

You can find more information and the download link on my blog page, Carrie's Speech Corner.  Hope you enjoy!

ArticulaStory for SH Carry-over (all positions)

Phew!  It's our last full (5 day) week of school!  In celebration, I have another ArticulaStory FREEBIE--this one is for the carry-over of "sh" and incorporates all positions.

ArticulaStories follow the fill-in-the-blank format that allows for silly creations kids love.  I often do one copy in a therapy session and send another copy for homework since I know it will be done!  This story includes a word list (each containing the target, natch) and is not duplicated in the worksheet packet, ArticulaStories for SH.

Take a minute to pick it up here.

Speech and Language Summer Homework Packet

Need summer homework for your young speech and language students? Well then, I have just the thing for you!

I have created (actually, revised from last year) speech and language homework calendars. Each month (June, July, and August) have 15 activities. Let's be honest. Most kids don't do homework every single week of summer and especially not on the weekends. 15 activities is half of 30 days giving students an opportunity to do 1 homework assignment on one day and then have the next day off to relax.

Take a look at the sample calendar below:

Shine/Sign Sliding Worksheet FREEBIE

I've been working with a little guy on his /s/ sound which sounds more like /sh/. He wants to protrude his tongue and tends to keep it flatter than optimal.  We've discussed the difference between both positioning and sound of /s/ and /sh/, and we discuss "make your sound skinnier."  He's beginning to get the hang of it!

I had another little guy who was working on /s/ clusters earlier in the year.  I had created some "sliding worksheets" that really seemed to help drive home the need for a strong /s/ sound before finishing the word.  I thought something similar might help my sh/s guy visualize the sound better, so I created minimal pair sheets with the sliding line thinner or wider depending on whether or not it was a /sh/ or /s/.

If you'd like to give this a try yourself grab a FREE copy of shine/sign here.
If you think you'll need more practice than that, try the entire pack of eight (8) worksheets here.  (Note:  shine/sign is not duplicated in the pack)

Life Cycle of a Frog

One of my classrooms has been learning about the life cycles recently.  They're learning about caterpillars and butterflies, eggs and chicks, and tadpoles and frogs.  So, when I found this adorable clip art from Kari Bolt on TPT, I knew I had to create something for them!

I decided to create a simple book outlining the Life Cycle of a Frog.  This is a full-color 6 page (full pages) book that describes the sequence of a Frog's Life Cycle:

So the kids would be able to have something to take home and share what they are learning with their families, I also created a mini-booklet.

You can access this freebie on my blog page (Carrie's Speech Corner)!  Hope you enjoy!

Raise your hand if you are in the craziest month of the year and couldn't be more ready for summer....My hand is up.  Ok, both my hands are up because this month has gone bananas on me, and May isn't usually too bad for me.  It's an extra special year :)  So who needs something fun and easy to get them through?  Me too!  And since I am doing ocean animals for the next week, I used them as inspiration to bring you more black & white, no laminating or cutting activities!
Here is a sneak peek of one of the four pages included...this one is specifically for speech, but I also included 2 dice games and a color page!  Open ended activities to fill the gaps :)

BHSM Water Bottle Wrappers

Last week I caught an exchange on Twitter discussing ways to celebrate/promote Better Hearing and Speech Month.  I loved an idea from @ndnspeechmom which was to pass out bottles of water with vocal hygiene tips.  So, here you go—wrappers designed for 8 oz bottles of water (though they’ll fit larger too) with some basic facts.  They print black and white, four to a sheet.  You can opt to use color paper if you want to add some flair.  Simply use a piece of tape or your contact information on a return address label to adhere.  ***Note:  it is easier to stick the wrappers/labels on if you work on room temperature bottles.

You can grab your copy here.

Be sure to stop by ndnspeechmom.com to join the #SLPeeps scavenger hunt.  Happy BHSM!

Summertime Verbs (SVO Phrases)

I am finally catching up with myself after a crazy few weeks so here is another freebie for you to enjoy!

It is a sample activity from my popular Language Activity Packs. All the packs contain detailed instructions for you to print and send home for follow through. You will save so much time on homework prep!

I just couldn't resist these graphics what I saw them. They are perfect for a summer sporty theme. The verbs targeted are kicking, throwing, swimming and climbing.

Your Pre - K to 1st grade will love the bright colors as they "play" with the characters. Full color cue cards are included for self-correction and prompting. There is also a written cue option for when you need to save on ink.

You will find the freebie for download in my TPT store here. If you download I would love if you would leave feedback for me!
