Free Handout For Parents & Caregivers On How To Help With Articulation

Hello Speechie Freebies Followers.  We are Shanda and Manda, the SLPs from Twin Speech, Language & Literacy LLC. Today we are happy to be back over at Speechie Freebies in order to provide our new handout to all of the wonderful people who follow Speechie Freebies and enjoy picking up terrific speech and language-themed documents!
Our handy handout is for giving to parents or caregivers while their child is undergoing articulation therapy. It contains some helpful tips on how they can help encourage correct articulation at home and in other environments away from school.
A version in color and in ink-saving black and white is provided in the download.

Here's a quick summary of the tips provided on the handout:
*Use gentle reminders of correction.
*Try to revise what your child has mispronounced.
*Try to practice targeted sounds at home for 5-10 minutes a day.
*Model the sound during your daily routines as much as possible.
*Address underlying health issues.
*Read to your child.
*When you are playing with your child take the opportunity to emphasize correct sound production.
*Attempt to congratulate and emphasize when you hear correct production of your child’s articulation targets.
*Use positive and descriptive words when trying to correct.
*Ask about how things are going at speech and sit in to watch and participate if it’s possible.

We hope you find this handout beneficial!
