Roll A Story!

I love working on story telling goals with my students!  I came up with this activity, which will also work great for back to school, that will help you work on expressive language skills, articulation, fluency, and voice.

Rev It Up With These Free Upper and Lowercase Letter Jigsaw Puzzle Cards- Monster Trucks

Hello! Shanda and I are so glad to be back this month with another freebie for the readers of Speechie Freebies! This freebie document contains both colorful and black and white upper and lowercase letter jigsaw puzzle matching cards. They are a fun and useful set of letter cards to have in order to practice letter and object coloring while identifying upper and lowercase letters, and especially for kinesthetic learners that benefit from moving and touching while working on learning new things. In addition, the letters are great to have because other things can be worked on while the child cuts or colors.  For instance, a teacher or therapist could ask, "What color is that card?" (concept) or "What sound does that letter make?" (phonics) or "Lets say truck." (final K sound is a common articulation goal).

We hope you enjoy this freebie and encourage you to check out our new kindergarten readiness packet that contains more cool monster truck themed worksheets. It was designed to see if your child or student is ready for kindergarten and this is initially assessed via the kindergarten readiness screener that is at the start of the document. The later part of the document contains over 150 useful worksheets that work on a wide range of kindergarten readiness skills such as: letter identification, cutting, number identification, counting, prepositions, pronouns, concepts (colors and shapes), phonics and more!

Go over to Twin Sisters Speech & Language Therapy LLC blog to get your link for the links to our reeeeved up freebie and our new kindergarten readiness packet!

Have a great day!
 Sincerely,
Manda & Shanda, SLPs

Bubble Categories

Hey Everyone!

Time for my monthly (or so) check-in. ;)  Boy have I been busy , but I wanted to share another activity for those of you who are still in school or working summer school!  I've noticed that my students this year have really struggled with categories - especially naming a category when given members of the category. So, I developed this activity.

My kids love bubbles and I've been using actual bubbles as a reinforcement for this activity.  You can read more about this activity on my blog! :)

Basic Concept Sort

Hey everyone, it's Miss Thrifty SLP! To celebrate the last week of school, I thought I would go back to some language basics with a sorting activity. Figurines, the Expanding Expression Tool (if you have it), and these new sorting mats are all it took to make a fun end of the year review.

One of the biggest things that made this activity different from our beginning of the year sessions, was the Spanish that I added into the mix. Each of the sorting mats has the Spanish word or words that they might use at home when talking to their parents.

If you want to find out more about these sorting mats and grab a copy for yourself, click on the button below.

Reading Comprehension Short Stories-Level 1

page 1

This packet includes 2 reading comprehension short stories at what I like to label "Level 1", which means that it consists of 50-100 words, uses short simple sentences and repetitive words.  Also included in this packet is a place for students to illustrate the story they just read in order create a visual understanding of the story, followed by a page of comprehension questions.  Most questions are concrete in nature however there is at least one inferencing question that requires minimal reasoning skills to answer.
