My Farm Book: Emergent Reader Freebie

I've been hard at work prepping for our preschool and kindergarten farm unit (one of my favorite units of the year)!!  I recently created an emergent reader/vocabulary book that I decided to share as my latest freebie!

"My Farm Book: Emergent Reader Freebie" includes 6 sheets (12 half sheets) that can be used to target reading or vocabulary skills!

Simply cut the pages apart, stack, and staple.  Then, get to work reading the book or working on vocabulary!  Students can color the pictures or dot them with a bingo dauber!

Head on over to my blog to check out this activity!!!!!

Time to Warm Up!

Phil may have predicted an early spring, but it's been unusually cold here!  I'll be bringing in some hot chocolate envelopes and marshmallows this week for experiential learning and following the lesson up with a sequencing mini-book.

Because I've created these to include three different levels, they work for a large variety of kiddos!

Ice Fishing for Articulation!

It's fun to bring in some seasonal items into artic seasons, especially if they are a bit different from the norm since many of my artic kiddos have average language skills already.  They know a lot about snow, snowflakes, snowmen, but what about ice fishing?!

This worksheet gives us a chance to talk about what it would be like to fish in a frozen lake--the safety precautions, what the fish might be like in winter and how it's the same/different from fishing in the summer.  They're intrigued!

This freebie targets initial "J."  Students say the pictured prompt and decide whether or not the word begins with the target sound (of the ten pictures, eight do and two don't).  If it does, the student hooks that fish on to the line.  If it doesn't, we let it go or cross it out.

It's a great way to be sure they are saying, feeling and listening for the sounds since many of my artic kiddos have weak phonemic awareness skills!

I send the sheet home with "color and say" checked off and they bring it back for an extra sticker.  To grab your copy, click here.

Social Skills Round #2

While my husband enjoyed the Superbowl, the dogs and I thought up new ideas for my social skills group. We decided that football games are a good time to reminisce about the good old days when I did inclusion groups last year. Some memories were good and some were not quite as great....

But what a great way to to talk about what we are expected to do in the classroom! Students see things like these actions all the time in classrooms and they leave a HUGE impression. I imagine some may see worse and some may see better depending on the make-up of the classroom.

My Speech Snow Globe Craftivity!

Happy Wednesday! How's the weather where you are living? It's been really nice here in Florida, even a little chilly. I decided to jump on the cold weather theme and created a speech snow globe craftivity!
Included in this packet is a color and black and white version of the snow globe. I found the snow globe clipart from Teacher's Clipart store on TpT. It is purposely left as a simple template so you can use it for just about any goal you are targeting.
Last week I used this with my preschool articulation students. I download target words from Mommy Speech Therapy and had the students practice their words or put them into a sentence before gluing them onto their snow globe!
They turned out really cute! I sent them home so they could practice the words in their snow globe that week with their families. You can download this craftivity for FREE in my TpT store here!

Groundhog's Day Freebie

Is winter here to stay or is spring on it's way? I know that many of you on the east coast are probably hoping for some spring weather after the snow storm you got. Though winter has been pretty mild here in the Pacific Northwest, I am hoping to see some spring weather early this year.

With Groundhog's day coming up, use these freebie to talk about vocabulary related to this day and then have your students vote if they think we're in for another 6 weeks of bad winter weather or if nice spring weather will be here soon.
