An Imagination Freebie

Hey SLPeeps!

If you're like me, 2 weeks of state standardized testing has me longing for the outdoors! We've been doing a unit on Imagination, and I'm anxiously waiting Wednesday, when we're free to resume our regular schedules and make some noise! I made a quick freebie to go along with this unit that's super quick and easy! The students simply use their imaginations to add to the shapes and create pictures! We then share and discuss how sometimes people see things differently!

Click on the link below to head over to my blog to snag this freebie, and read more about what we're doing this week and how I incorporate this freebie into speech!

Baaa-utiful Speech for Antonyms!

These sweet little lambs are ready to help your kiddos practice antonyms with an adorable and EASY craft!

First, I have my students say the opposite pair (or I may be modelling at this point) and daub the picture.  Next, I have them go through the pairs one more time, adding a cotton ball to create a wooly lamb effect.  (Tip:  Cut cotton balls in half to provide a flat sticking surface.  Use double stick tape if drying time is an issue in your room or glue stick.)

Use these lambs with farm themes, Sheep on a Jeep or during the spring!

Think Green!

April is one of my favorite months of the year. There are tiny little wildflowers hiding in the grass and the sweet songs of birds float through the air. It's the perfect time to remember that we have so much beauty surrounding us if we just take the time to notice the small things. It's also a beauty that we must protect.

So beauty, inspiration, music.......It all led me to create a simple mobile craft activity for Earth Day. I recommend watching a brief video on recycling before you start this craft. My current favorite is a clip from Reading Rainbow that shows what happens to recyclables once they reach the recycling plant. There are quite a few good ones out there though.

Once you have watched your video, it's time to talk about the "Three R's". Students get to write about what they can do to reduce, reuse, and recycle on one side. The other side is blank so you can have them draw a picture of what the action looks like once they cut the shape out.

You can head on over to my blog to learn more about this activity. Simply click on the picture below!

Ten For April

April has arrived! I have really enjoyed making and using my Ten For packets and it seems that you enjoy them as well. I have two more sets (after this one) for the school year and then I'll fill in the couple that I missed earlier in the year.

I do try to vary the skills from month to month, while keeping more common skills in there. This is what's targeted this month:

Here's an example of one of the worksheets:
